Many species of raptors (birds of prey) have been adversely affected by urban and rural land development in British Columbia (Campbell et al 1990). However, raptors can often coexist with people in human-modified landscapes if certain practices are adopted. This Best Management Practices (BMP) document was produced to assist local government staff, the development community, and landowners with the conservation of raptors and their habitats in urban and rural areas of the province. It is a companion document to Environmental Best Management Practices for Urban and Rural Land Development in British Columbia prepared for the British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection (MWLAP).
